President Kais Saied received Minister of Youth and Sports Sadok Mourali on Friday, October 31, at Carthage Palace to discuss the memorandum of understanding signed with China’s International Development Cooperation Agency regarding the reconstruction of Al-Menzah Olympic Stadium, set to begin next year.
President Saied welcomed the agreement and stressed the importance of preserving the stadium’s original architectural identity while equipping it with modern facilities. He also called for comprehensive renovations across Al-Menzah Olympic complex, which has hosted historic sporting and cultural events.
The President criticized past mismanagement and corruption that led to the deterioration of several public sports facilities, urging accountability for those responsible. He emphasized the need for ongoing maintenance of sports venues and youth centers and called for reform in Tunisia’s sports system to ensure integrity, professionalism, and support for local clubs and young talent.
