Medina, November 17, 2025 — A tragic accident in Medina early Monday morning claimed the lives of dozens of Indian Umrah pilgrims after their bus collided with an oil tanker.
The crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. (India time) while the bus was carrying about 40 pilgrims, according to initial reports. The collision resulted in a high number of fatalities and injuries, with only a few passengers surviving.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are providing full support to the victims and their families. He added that Indian authorities are in constant contact with Saudi officials to coordinate assistance efforts.
