Algeria Becomes First Arab State to Receive Russia’s Su-57 Stealth Fighter

Russia has delivered the first two Su-57 fighter jets to Algeria, making it the first Arab and African country to acquire a fifth-generation stealth aircraft other than the U.S.-made F-35, according to Military Watch.

The magazine noted that stable serial production of the Su-57 is helping expand its international market prospects, adding that owning such an advanced fighter is a sign of technological sovereignty and the high capabilities of Russian military industry.

Although Russian sources did not explicitly name the recipient, earlier reports confirmed that Algeria was expected to receive two jets before the end of the year, as the aircraft’s only confirmed foreign customer.
