Tunisia officially launched the King Salman bin Abdulaziz University Hospital project in Kairouan on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, with the signing of the construction and equipment contract at the Ministry of Health.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, Saudi Ambassador to Tunisia, Abdulaziz bin Ali Al-Saqar, and Kairouan Governor, Thaker Al-Barqawi, alongside representatives of the implementing companies and government bodies.
The Tunisian Health Minister said the project forms part of the direct follow-up by President Kais Saied to strengthen public healthcare, improve access to treatment, and bring services closer to citizens. He also highlighted the strong historical and strategic ties between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
For his part, the Saudi ambassador reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to continued investment in Tunisia, noting that the hospital reflects the deep fraternal relations between the two countries.
The hospital will feature multiple medical departments, modern equipment, and specialized university-level services, contributing to greater health equity and improved access to public healthcare across regions.
