Tunisia, South Korea Seek to Deepen Cooperation and Investment

Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti met on Thursday with Jong Bae Lee, President of the Korean-Tunisian Parliamentary Friendship Group, during his visit to Tunisia with a parliamentary delegation.

The minister praised the strong ties between Tunisia and South Korea and reaffirmed Tunisia’s readiness to deepen cooperation, particularly in information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence, digital health, scientific research, and higher education. He highlighted successful joint projects such as the digitization of public procurement (TUNEPS) and the real estate system (TLIS), commending the role of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Nafti also called for increased South Korean investment to create jobs and support regional development, citing the Yura Corporation’s automotive cables factory in Kairouan as a successful example. He further urged easier access for Tunisian olive oil to the Korean market.

For his part, Lee reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Tunisia and exploring new partnership opportunities, especially in automotive components, ICT, and digital medical services, while emphasizing the importance of promoting Tunisian olive oil in South Korea.
