Tunisian President Receives Mauritanian Special Envoy

The Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed received on Friday, February 27, at the Carthage Palace, El Houssein Ould Medou, Mauritania’s Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication and Relations with Parliament, who visited Tunisia as a special envoy carrying a written message from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

The meeting highlighted the strong and historic ties between Tunisia and Mauritania, rooted in centuries-old cultural and scholarly exchanges, particularly between Kairouan and the historic region of Chinguetti.

President Saied also recalled Tunisia’s early recognition of Mauritania following its independence and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation not only in cultural and academic fields, but also in economic areas.

The discussion further addressed rapid global developments, with the President emphasizing the need for unity and coordinated positions to face emerging challenges and shape a new future for both nations.
