Tunisia and Niger Strengthen Economic Partnership at 2026 Forum

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Tunisia and Niger took a step toward stronger economic ties with the opening of the Tunisian-Nigerien Economic Forum at the Export Promotion Center in Tunis (CEPEX). The event was inaugurated by Tunisia’s Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, and Niger’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Abdoulaye Seydou, in the presence of officials, business leaders, and economic stakeholders from both countries.

Hamadi Kaali, Vice President of UTICA, stressed that the forum shows a strong shared commitment between Tunisia and Niger to build a strategic partnership based on joint investment and production, with clear political support from both sides.

Despite strong historical ties, trade between the two countries remains limited. He noted that this forum is a key opportunity to boost cooperation by moving beyond traditional exports toward joint production and investment.

Priority sectors include agriculture, food industries, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, and renewable energy, along with services like engineering, healthcare, digital technology, and logistics. The role of AIMEC was also highlighted in supporting investment and African economic integration.

Kaali emphasized the importance of B2B meetings to turn ideas into real projects, reaffirming UTICA’s commitment to supporting businesses, growth, and job creation, in line with Tunisia’s strategy to strengthen its economic presence in Africa.
