Tunisia and Libya Strengthen Trade Ties

On December 8, 2024, Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah met with Tunisian Minister of Trade and Export Investment Samir Abid in Tripoli following the conclusion of the Tunisian-Libyan Joint Trade Committee meetings. The discussions, co-chaired by Abid and his Libyan counterpart, focused on enhancing economic cooperation in trade, transportation, banking, and food security.

Key outcomes included plans to modernize the Ras-Jedir border crossing, establish a rapid-response team to resolve border issues, and introduce new trade agreements tailored to modern needs. Both sides also emphasized private sector engagement and identified promising opportunities in sectors like olive oil export.

The session ended with the signing of agreements covering consumer protection, free trade zones, and joint economic events, marking a new chapter in Tunisian-Libyan economic integration.
