Smoking: A Single Cigarette Costs 20 Minutes of Life

A recent British study has revealed alarming findings: smoking just one cigarette can reduce a smoker’s lifespan by an average of 20 minutes. This figure significantly exceeds the previously estimated impact, which suggested each cigarette shortens life by 11 minutes.

According to The Guardian, a pack of 20 cigarettes could reduce a smoker’s life by as much as seven hours. This shocking statistic highlights the toll smoking takes on long-term health.

For a smoker consuming 10 cigarettes daily, quitting by January 1 could save a day of life by January 8. Stopping by February 5 could add a week, and by August 5, a full month.

By year-end, quitting could prevent the loss of 50 days of life, highlighting the immense health benefits of giving up smoking.
