Syrian Foreign Ministry Calls for Full Lifting of Sanctions

SANA, 09 January 2025 – The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for the complete removal of economic sanctions, stating that these measures now target the Syrian people after their original justification no longer applies. The Ministry welcomed recent U.S. exemptions from sanctions and thanked Syrian officials for their efforts in achieving this progress.

It stressed that lifting the sanctions is crucial for Syria’s recovery, stability, and prosperity. The U.S. Treasury Department recently issued a license allowing transactions with the new Syrian government until July 7, 2025, including energy sales and non-commercial remittances.
