Southern California Faces Landslide Threat After Wildfires and Heavy Rains

Southern California faces the threat of landslides and rockfalls following heavy rains on Friday, rekindling concerns linked to past wildfires.

The intense downpour in some areas led to debris flows across roads, including the Pacific Coast Highway.

In a dramatic incident, a fire department vehicle was swept into the ocean in Malibu due to the debris flow. Fortunately, one team member managed to escape with minor injuries.

Although the storm began to subside on Thursday evening, the risk of landslides remains high in wildfire-affected areas. The destruction of vegetation that once stabilized the soil has left the land more vulnerable to collapses.
