France Suspends Visa Exemption for Algerian Diplomats Amid Tensions

France has suspended its visa exemption agreement for Algerian diplomatic passport holders, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced on France Inter radio.

The decision follows Algeria’s refusal to accept a list of nationals facing deportation from France. Retailleau criticized Algeria on X, accusing it of disregarding international law and warning of further measures.

Tensions between the two nations have escalated over France’s decision to expel Algerian migrants accused of inciting violence—claims Algeria has rejected.
