U.S. Donates Two Island-Class Patrol Boats to Tunisia During USS Mount Whitney Visit

Tunis – April 17, 2025 — As part of a symbolic visit marking 220 years of U.S.-Tunisian maritime partnership, the USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), a Blue Ridge-class command and control ship, docked in Tunisia on April 17. During the visit, the U.S. formally handed over two 34-meter Island-class patrol boats to the Tunisian Navy to help strengthen Tunisia’s maritime border security and support regional stability.

A commissioning ceremony was held by the Tunisian Navy to mark the arrival of the vessels, which represent the latest U.S. contribution to Tunisia’s maritime capabilities.
