Trump Declares Lift of Sanctions on Syria

US President Donald Trump stated Tuesday that all sanctions on Syria will be lifted, adding that Syria must “move forward” after years of civil war.

While there to attend an investment forum in Riyadh on his Middle East trip, Trump noted the sanctions had achieved their “purpose,” and there were no more sanctions needed. The implication is that this will allow Syria the opportunity to start rebuilding its economy after the war, and reconnect with international markets.
