Russian doctors have warned that sleeping more than 10 hours a day, every day, may be related to serious health problems such as hypothyroidism, depression, sleep apnea, strokes, diabetes, and even early death.
Dr. Vladimir Martinov emphasized that oversleeping may indicate that there is something wrong with a person, so those people who sleep 10–12 hours a day and still feel tired, need to see a doctor.
In contrast, sleep physician Dr. Alexander Klinin discussed how the amount of sleep each person needs can vary, but he said that in most cases, the appropriate amount of sleep is usually 7–9 hours nightly, and, at most, 10 hours a night.
