U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced that two Israeli Embassy employees, one man and one woman, were shot and killed in Washington’s Jewish Heritage Museum overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
Reports indicate the shooting happened near « F and Third Streets » in Northwest Washington D.C., near both the FBI Headquarters and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. According to NBC, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force was on scene following the incident, which occurred near the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department headquarters.
Washington police identified the suspect, 30 year old Elias Rodriguez. Authorities said he was a previous unknown, and stated there was no prior intelligence or indication of a terrorist or hate crime prior to the shooting.
