Tunisia and Denmark Deepen Ties During Ministerial Visit

On June 4, 2025, Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti began his official visit to Copenhagen by meeting with his Danish counterpart Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The two reaffirmed the strong, long-standing relations between Tunisia and Denmark and agreed to boost cooperation in key sectors such as education, renewable energy, and health.

A major highlight was Denmark’s announcement to open an embassy in Tunisia this August—a move welcomed as a sign of growing trust and partnership. The ministers agreed to establish a joint cooperation committee focused on economic collaboration.

Minister Nafti also met with Søren Gade Jensen, Speaker of the Danish Parliament, and emphasized Tunisia’s democratic reform efforts and role in regional stability, especially in Libya.

The visit included the Tunisia-Denmark Economic Forum, where business leaders from both countries explored investment opportunities in clean energy, agritech, and digital services. Nafti underlined Tunisia’s potential as a gateway to African markets.

He concluded his trip by meeting with members of the Tunisian community in Denmark, reaffirming Tunisia’s commitment to supporting its citizens abroad.
