« One Health Conference » Kicks Off in Tunis with Participation from 18 Countries

The regional « One Health – Safe Future » conference opened today, June 14, 2025, at the International  Diplomatic Academy in Tunis, with the participation of ministers from 18 Middle Eastern and North African countries. The event also includes key international organizations such as the WHO, FAO, OIE, and UNEP.

The conference highlights the need for joint action to tackle pandemics, antimicrobial resistance, and climate change. Tunisian Health Minister Dr. Mustapha Ferjani emphasized cross-sector collaboration, while Agriculture Minister Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh warned of the growing risks of zoonotic diseases. Environment Minister Habib Abid stressed the constitutional right to a healthy environment and called for integrated solutions.

The two-day event focuses on practical steps to implement the « One Health » approach, including policy coordination, data sharing, and preventive projects.
