Tunisia Reaffirms Strategic Ties with U.S. at Independence Day Celebration

On June 17, 2025, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad,  Mohamed Ali Nafti, joined Minister of Communication Technologies,  Sofiene Hemissi, at a reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Tunis to mark the United States’ Independence Day.

In his speech, Minister Nafti highlighted the longstanding friendship between Tunisia and the United States, dating back to 1797, and emphasized the importance of their strategic partnership. He welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral relations, citing the revival of U.S. cooperation programs and a rise in trade exchanges.

Nafti also praised the growing academic collaboration, including recent agreements between Tunisian and American universities, which he said enhance cultural and scientific ties between the two nations.

He underscored shared values of freedom, justice, and peaceful coexistence as pillars of Tunisia’s foreign policy.

The U.S. Ambassador echoed these sentiments, commending the progress in bilateral relations and reaffirming America’s commitment to further cooperation across multiple sectors.
