Tunisia Records Significant Decline in Marriages and Births

Recent statistics from Tunisia’s National Institute of Statistics reveal a significant drop in key demographic indicators. Marriages fell by around 10% in 2024, with 70,942 cases recorded compared to 78,115 in 2023—a decrease of more than 8,000.

Births also declined, reaching 133,322 in 2024 compared to 147,242 the previous year, marking a similar 10% drop.

The downward trend reflects ongoing social, economic, and demographic changes in Tunisia, including shifting marriage patterns, delayed parenthood, and financial pressures influencing family planning decisions.
