Rwanda Cuts Diplomatic Ties with Belgium

Rwanda announced on Monday the severance of diplomatic relations with Belgium and the expulsion of all Belgian diplomats from its territory. The move comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries over the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Rwandan Foreign Ministry stated that all Belgian diplomats have been ordered to leave the country within 48 hours. In response, Belgium declared Rwandan diplomats in its territory as persona non grata following Rwanda’s decision to cut ties.
