Evacuation of 164 Guinean Migrants from Tunisia to Their Home Country

A plane carrying 164 Guinean migrants took off today, Thursday, April 17, 2025, from Tunis-Carthage International Airport, heading to Guinea at their own request.

Some of these migrants had been residing in Tunisia for nearly ten years, eventually realizing the unlikelihood of achieving their dream of migrating to Europe or securing a decently paid job.

It is worth noting that Tunisia, in coordination with the office of the High Commissioner for Migration in Tunisia, Algeria, and Sub-Saharan African countries, has successfully evacuated 1,544 migrants since the beginning of this year, and 7,250 during the past year. Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration continues to register those willing to voluntarily return to their home countries.
