Robert Prevost Becomes First American Pope in Vatican History

A new pope has been elected to lead the Vatican, first American in history to be pope, is Robert Prevost from the United States.

He will take the title Pope Leo XIV after being elected today, the second day of the conclave, in which six ballots were held, and the cardinals were confident in their decision, as is shown by the fact that he was overwhelmingly elected to lead the church in the secret balloting.
