In a Call with His South African Counterpart, Tunisian President Reaffirms African Unity

On May 27, 2025, Tunisian President Kais Saied had a phone conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, according to a statement by the Tunisian Presidency.

During this call, President Kais Saied reiterated his firm belief that « Africa belongs to Africans, » and called for a renewed commitment to building a dignified future for all Africans, free from foreign exploitation.

President Saied paid tribute to the founding fathers of African unity and emphasized the need to revive their vision amid modern challenges. He also praised South Africa’s stance on the Palestinian cause, stressing that justice and dignity must prevail.

The call concluded with an official invitation for President Ramaphosa to visit Tunisia.
