Germany: Thousands Evacuated After Discovery of WWII Bombs in Cologne

Authorities in Cologne, Germany, evacuated around 20,500 people on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, after discovering three unexploded World War II bombs in the city center.

The evacuation, described as the largest of its kind since the war’s end, began at 8:00 a.m. local time and covered a 1,000-meter radius, including residents, workers, and hotel guests in the historic Old Town and the popular Deutz district.
