Israel has launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, targeting dozens of sites including major nuclear facilities. The offensive, dubbed Rising Lion, aims to counter what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a threat to Israel’s survival.
One key target was the Natanz uranium enrichment site. Netanyahu warned the operation could last days and urged Israelis to stay in shelters.
In response, Iran launched about 100 drones toward Israel, prompting the shutdown of Ben Gurion Airport and a nationwide state of alert. An Israeli military spokesperson said the country was facing “a rough few hours.”
Iranian state media reported the deaths of top military figures, including Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami and armed forces chief General Mohammad Bagheri.
