A massive fire broke out early Tuesday in two separate districts of Berlin, destroying a total of 36 trucks in what authorities suspect to be a deliberate act.
According to the fire department, the first emergency call came just before 3:00 a.m. local time. The fires occurred in the Britz and Lichtenberg neighborhoods.
In Lichtenberg, 17 trucks belonging to a telecommunications company were engulfed in flames, while 19 parcel delivery trucks were destroyed in Britz. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the two incidents are connected. Investigations are ongoing.
