French President Emmanuel Macron called for a joint recognition of the State of Palestine by France and the United Kingdom, describing it as the only path toward a meaningful prospect for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
Speaking at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the conclusion of his visit to the UK, Macron urged Paris and London to align their positions and recognize the Palestinian state, in a move he said could launch a political dynamic toward a comprehensive settlement.
For his part, Prime Minister Starmer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to achieving a just political solution to the Palestinian issue. He stressed the importance of the international community’s role in supporting the Palestinian people and promoting peace and stability in the region.
