Tunisia–UK Hold Talks on Trade, Education, and Regional Stability

Tunis, July 16, 2025 — Tunisian Foreign Minister, Mohamed Ali Nafti, received the British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Hamish Falconer, who is leading the British delegation to the third session of the Tunisian-British Association Council, co-chaired by Tunisian Secretary of State Mohamed Ben Ayed.

The meeting highlighted progress under the 2019 Tunisian-British Association Agreement, notably in security, trade, education, tourism, and English language promotion. Minister Nafti praised the growing number of British tourists and emphasized the need to support Tunisians residing, working, or studying in the UK.

Falconer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to deepening cooperation, especially in renewable energy and digital technologies. Both sides praised advances in clean energy, startups, and investment, and expressed hope for fully activating the mechanisms of the Association Agreement.

Ben Ayed noted strong bilateral trade progress and potential for expansion, particularly in agriculture, food industries, and education. The talks also covered key regional issues, including support for the Palestinian cause and UN-led efforts for peace in Libya.
