Tunisia and Saudi Arabia Sign Five Cooperation Agreements

Tunisia and Saudi Arabia signed five agreements and memoranda of understanding on Sunday covering several sectors, including customs, mining, postal services, and media.

The agreements were signed during the 12th session of the Tunisian-Saudi Joint Committee, held in Riyadh and lasting two days, according to the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency.

The signed documents include an agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters, a memorandum of understanding on postal sector cooperation, and another memorandum on mining cooperation between Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.

Additional agreements cover cooperation in radio and television broadcasting between Tunisian and Saudi media institutions, as well as an executive program for news exchange between the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency and the Saudi Press Agency.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh said the session represents a new step in strengthening the legal framework governing relations between the two countries. He added that work will continue to finalize further agreements and that a meeting between private sector representatives from both countries will be held on Monday.

Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef said the committee meeting provides an opportunity to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation, highlighting the opportunities created by Saudi Vision 2030 and stressing the importance of increasing joint investments.

The joint committee is co-chaired by the two ministers and is accompanied by the Tunisian-Saudi Economic Forum, aimed at boosting investment and partnership between the two countries.
