Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that it launched missile strikes targeting Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport and an Israeli air force base in the same area. The attack comes on the sixth day of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
In a statement reported by the Tasnim news agency, the IRGC said it fired heavy Khorramshahr-4 missiles, each carrying warheads weighing about one ton. The missiles were reportedly launched early in the morning toward central Tel Aviv, specifically targeting Ben Gurion Airport and the Israeli Air Force’s 27th Division base located at the airport.
The IRGC also claimed responsibility for another attack earlier on Thursday, saying a U.S. oil tanker in the Persian Gulf was struck by a missile. According to a statement broadcast on Iranian state television, the vessel was hit in the northern part of the Gulf and was “currently on fire.”
Additionally, the IRGC asserted that it now has full control of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route connecting the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean and a key passage for global oil and gas transportation.
