Tunisia is working to expand cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for the 2026–2029 period, focusing on key sectors such as industry, energy, and renewable energy.

During a meeting held on 11 March 2026, Secretary of State for Energy Transition Wael Chouchane met with a delegation from the Islamic Development Bank at the Ministry’s headquarters. Senior ministry officials and representatives from several state institutions also attended the session.

The discussions focused on preparing a strategic cooperation document between Tunisia and the bank for the coming years, as well as reviewing upcoming projects involving major public companies. These include the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company, the National Alfa Pulp and Paper Company, the Tunisian Steel Company “El Fouladh,” and the Tunisian Company of Refining Industries.

Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening their partnership to open new opportunities for strategic investments. Chouchane praised the productive cooperation between Tunisia and the bank, emphasizing that restructuring public enterprises while ensuring their sustainability and improving their performance remains a government priority.

Representatives of the Islamic Development Bank also commended Tunisia’s national expertise and stressed their continued technical support for the country across various sectors.

The bank’s delegation is currently on an official working visit to Tunisia from 8 to 14 March 2026.
