As Gaza Ceasefire Takes Effect: Thousands Return to the North

The Israeli army announced on Friday, October 10, 2025, that the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip officially began at noon local time.

“Starting from 12:00 p.m., Israeli Defense Forces began repositioning along updated deployment lines in preparation for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages,” the statement read.

It added that “the Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area and will continue to eliminate any immediate threats.”

Shortly after the ceasefire took effect, videos circulated showing thousands of displaced Palestinians returning to northern Gaza from the central and southern parts of the Strip via Al-Rashid Street.
