Venezuela Closes Its Embassy in Norway After Nobel Peace Prize Awarded to Opposition Leader

Venezuela has shut down its embassy in Oslo without offering any official explanation, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. The closure comes just three days after the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.

According to the Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang, the embassy stopped answering phone calls on Monday afternoon. Later in the day, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that the embassy’s phone lines had been completely disconnected.

So far, neither the Venezuelan government nor embassy officials have commented on the closure or its timing.
