Mali Imposes $10,000 Visa Bond on US Visitors

Mali has announced a new visa policy requiring US citizens to pay a bond of up to $10,000 (£7,500) for business and tourist visas. The decision comes in response to a similar measure introduced by the United States under President Donald Trump.

The US embassy in Bamako said the policy reflects Washington’s commitment to “protecting America’s borders and ensuring national security.”

Mali’s foreign ministry described the move as reciprocal, stating that the country had “established an identical visa programme” for American travelers.
