Tunisian Defense Minister Meets AFRICOM Commander

Tunisian Minister of National Defense Khaled Sehili met on Wednesday with General Dagvin Anderson, Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), who is visiting Tunisia for the first time since assuming his post.

Minister Sehili congratulated General Anderson on his appointment and stressed the importance of strengthening the long-standing Tunisian-American partnership. He noted the strong cooperation between the two countries in training, joint exercises, and expertise exchange, and reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to regional security.

He called for deeper collaboration, follow-up on the Joint Military Commission’s recommendations, and continued implementation of the 2020–2030 cooperation roadmap to boost the army’s operational and logistical capacities against non-traditional threats such as cross-border organized crime, irregular migration, and human trafficking.

General Anderson welcomed the meeting as an opportunity to expand cooperation amid regional security challenges, praising Tunisia’s key role in promoting stability. Senior officials from both sides attended the talks.
