Tunisia and Algeria Open Joint Economic Forum to Boost Strategic Partnership

Tunisian Head of Government Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri and Algerian Prime Minister Saifi Gharib presided on Thursday, 11 December 2025, over the opening of the Tunisian-Algerian Economic Forum in Gammarth. The event, held under the theme “Industry, Energy, and Tourism,” brought together ministers from both countries, Algeria’s ambassador to Tunisia, economic organizations, and representatives of major companies.

Tunisian Head of Government Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri said the forum reflects Tunisia and Algeria’s commitment to strengthening public–private cooperation and expanding the role of the private sector in driving growth. She noted that its timing alongside the 23rd High Joint Committee session highlights the shared political will of both Presidents to deepen economic ties.

She pointed to Tunisia’s economic recovery, rising foreign investment, and diversified exports, stressing the importance of strategic cooperation in industry, renewable energy, and tourism. Tourism remains a key pillar, with over three million Algerian visitors recorded by October 2025.

Algerian Prime Minister Saifi Gharib highlighted rising bilateral trade—reaching USD 2.3 billion in 2024—and growing joint investments, including 66 Tunisian-Algerian projects in Algeria. He called for accelerating joint initiatives, improving trade flow, and developing regional value chains.

Gharib also urged Tunisian businesses to explore investment opportunities in Algeria’s major sectors. The forum concluded with the signing of seven new economic partnership agreements, reinforcing the growing economic integration between both countries.
