Mahmoud Abdelsamee Reveals the Secrets of Cinematic Imagery in a Lecture at the Open-Air Theatre

As part of the activities of Cairo Industry Days, held within the framework of the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, a special lecture titled « The Art of Cinematic Imagery: A Lecture with Mahmoud Abdelsamee » will take place today, Friday, November 14, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Open-Air Theatre of the Cairo Opera House. The discussion will be moderated by film critic Rami Al-Metwaly.

The lecture will explore the creative and professional foundations of shaping cinematic imagery, beginning with the role of the cinematographer in forming the film’s visual language and extending to how the balance is achieved between artistic vision and modern cinematographic technologies.

Distinguished cinematographer Mahmoud Abdelsamee will also discuss key milestones from his rich career, sharing his expertise in handling lighting, framing, scene management, and his role in creating imagery that expresses dramatic states and supports the film’s artistic structure.

This lecture is part of a series of professional meetings presented by the Cairo Industry Days program, aiming to promote the exchange of expertise among filmmakers and equip the new generation with the necessary knowledge to understand cinematic imagery tools and build a comprehensive visual vision.
