Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs Amina Srarfi received the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Tunisia, Rami Qaddoumi, on Friday, January 16, 2026, accompanied by a delegation from the Palestinian Embassy, as part of efforts to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting highlighted the deep historical and humanitarian ties linking Tunisia and Palestine, and emphasized the role of cultural partnership in promoting Palestinian presence within Tunisia’s cultural scene while preserving memory and identity.
Discussions focused on practical initiatives, including the inclusion of Palestine in cultural events organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, notably during the upcoming Heritage Month. Proposed activities include showcasing Palestinian tangible and intangible heritage through traditional fashion shows, Palestinian cuisine, and cultural events hosted in cultural spaces and historical sites.
The two sides also discussed translating selected publications for presentation at the next Tunis International Book Fair, including “Israël sans masque: le vrai visage d’un État colonial” by Gilles Bibo, as well as dedicating a special pavilion to Palestine at the fair.
Further proposals included organizing a Palestinian Cultural Week at the Cité de la Culture Chedly Klibi, featuring cinema, dance, visual arts exhibitions, poetry, and literature, in addition to a Palestinian dabke dance workshop culminating in a public performance.
At the close of the meeting, Minister Srarfi reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to supporting Palestinian culture and strengthening its presence in national cultural programs, reflecting Tunisia’s longstanding support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
