Tunisian Foreign Minister Visits Jordan to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, paid a working visit to Jordan on 20 January 2026 at the invitation of Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi.

The visit aims to intensify high-level exchanges and strengthen fraternal relations between the two countries. During talks, the two ministers reaffirmed the depth of historic ties linking Tunisia and Jordan and reviewed ways to expand cooperation in economic, trade, cultural, and academic fields.

Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in key sectors, including tourism, information and communication technologies, agriculture, industry, transport, health, and vocational training, as well as increasing trade exchanges, particularly in Tunisian olive oil and pharmaceuticals. The two sides agreed to develop an action plan in the coming weeks to translate these opportunities into concrete projects, as the two countries mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.

The ministers also stressed the importance of coordination on regional and international issues, noting a strong convergence of views, especially on the Palestinian cause. Tunisia reiterated its firm support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

On the sidelines of the visit, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the International Diplomatic Academy of Tunisia and the Jordanian Diplomatic Institute to enhance cooperation in diplomatic training, international relations research, and foreign language education.
