President Saied Meets Algerian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers

Tunisian Presidency stated that President Kais Saied received on January 26, 2026, the Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and the Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty in separate meetings at the Carthage Palace, as both officials were visiting Tunisia to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya’s neighboring countries.

During the meetings, the two ministers conveyed greetings and messages of appreciation from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, reaffirming the strong fraternal ties between their countries and Tunisia. President Saied highlighted the depth of Tunisia’s historical relations with Algeria and Egypt and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation to address common political, security, and regional challenges.

Regarding Libya, President Saied reiterated Tunisia’s firm position that the Libyan crisis is a purely national issue and that any solution must be Libyan-led, without foreign interference. He stressed Tunisia’s support for Libya’s unity, sovereignty, security, and stability, noting that internationalizing the crisis has only complicated efforts to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people. In this context, he renewed Tunisia’s readiness to host an inclusive conference bringing together Libyans to freely determine their country’s future.

President Saied also reaffirmed Tunisia’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign state on all Palestinian territories with Jerusalem as its capital.
