Tunisia and France Reaffirm Strategic Partnership During High-Level Talks

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti received on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the French Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, Eléonore Caroit, who is paying a working visit to Tunisia. The meeting was attended by the French Ambassador to Tunisia.

The talks reviewed Tunisian-French cooperation in several areas of mutual interest, including economic, technical, scientific, cultural and tourism sectors, as well as consular issues and emerging fields of partnership. Both sides stressed the need to further strengthen bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality and shared interests, particularly as the two countries mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The two ministers welcomed the steady growth in trade and investment exchanges, noting that Tunisia has become the leading African investor in France since 2024. They also highlighted the role of Tunisian and French companies in boosting trade and job creation, as well as the contribution of the Tunisian community in France to economic and cultural ties.

Discussions also covered the facilitation of mobility for students and professionals, the recovery of stolen assets, and the importance of continued judicial and diplomatic cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing coordination within international and multilateral frameworks, including the European Union, the Mediterranean region and the International Organization of La Francophonie.
