Tunisia, EIB Discuss Strengthening Development Cooperation

Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met on February 5, 2026, with Anna Barone, the newly appointed Regional Representative of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Tunisia.

During the meeting, Nafti praised the longstanding cooperation between Tunisia and the EIB since 1979, highlighting the bank’s role in supporting key development projects in infrastructure, transport, energy, education, and small and medium-sized enterprises. He also called for enhanced EIB support for priority projects under Tunisia’s 2026–2030 Development Plan.

For her part, Barone reaffirmed the EIB’s commitment to continuing its support for the Tunisian economy in line with national priorities, describing Tunisia as a trusted and strategic partner in the region.
