Tunisia, France Boost Partnership in Healthcare Sector

The Tunisian Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, received the French Ambassador to Tunisia, Anne Guéguen, in the presence of representatives of the French Development Agency (AFD in french), in a meeting that confirmed the transition to the implementation phase of joint health projects.

Both sides agreed to accelerate the construction of multi-specialty hospitals in Gafsa and Sidi Bouzid with AFD support, while advancing digital health, telemedicine, and the use of artificial intelligence to improve healthcare services. They also discussed the digitalization of the National Medicines Agency, particularly drug marketing authorizations (AMM).

The talks further highlighted the importance of strengthening training, expertise exchange, and cooperation in areas such as biosafety and the “One Health” approach.

In addition, discussions touched on the THAMM-OFII program aimed at managing the balanced mobility of healthcare professionals, as well as preparations for a meeting between the Tunisian and French health ministers on the sidelines of the “One Health” summit in Lyon.
