United States Bans TikTok Amid Security Concerns

Washington, D.C. – Following a prolonged campaign spanning nearly seven years, involving security investigations, executive orders, and legal measures to ban or force the sale of TikTok to a U.S.-based entity, the Supreme Court unanimously endorsed a law last Friday banning social media platforms controlled by « foreign adversaries. »

The decision, supported by all nine justices, is seen as a landmark move addressing national security concerns tied to foreign-controlled digital platforms.

The ban is set to take effect on January 19, just one day before Donald Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated as the next President of the United States.
