Algeria Seeks Revision of EU Partnership Agreement

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced during a cabinet meeting that Algeria is calling for a revision of its partnership agreement with the European Union (EU) based on a « win-win » principle, emphasizing no intention of conflict with Europe.

A statement released on Sunday clarified that the revision aims to strengthen the positive relationship between Algeria and the EU as economic partners.

President Tebboune explained that the revision is driven by evolving economic realities. While Algeria’s exports were primarily reliant on hydrocarbons when the agreement took effect in 2005, the country has since diversified into sectors such as agriculture, mining, cement, and food production.
