Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies Discusses AI and Digital Cooperation in Paris

On the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris, the Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies Sofien Hemissi met with Doreen Bogdan, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, in the presence of Tunisia’s Ambassador to France, Dhia Khaled. The meeting focused on enhancing digital economy cooperation, particularly through expanding 5G usage, ensuring high-speed internet access for all, and promoting responsible AI development.

Hemissi also met with Clara Chappaz, France’s Minister for Digital Affairs and AI, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the digital sector. He expressed Tunisia’s commitment to actively contributing to AI initiatives aimed at inclusive and responsible technological advancement. Additionally, discussions included France’s proposal for Tunisia to host the second Mediterranean AI Forum in late 2025.

During his visit, Hemissi held talks with Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Under-Secretary-General for Digital and Emerging Technologies, Karim Amellal, France’s Special Ambassador for Mediterranean Affairs, and Philippe Gautier, Director-General of MEDEF France.
