Tunisia Launches $24 Million Forest Restoration Project

Tunisia has launched a $24 million project to restore degraded forests and enhance climate resilience in rural regions with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) on April 23 in Tunis.

The Agroforestry and Degraded Forest Landscape Restoration Project (PARFD) is largely financed by the AfDB from the Climate Investment Funds’ Strategic Climate Fund, supplemented by contributions from the Tunisian government and project beneficiaries.

The project aims to align with Tunisia’s 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy to reduce carbon intensity by 45% and create approximately 4,500 green jobs in the Béja, Siliana, and Bizerte areas.
