Earthquake of Magnitude 5.2 Recorded Off Libyan Coast

The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences reported that a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Mediterranean Sea on Monday at 11:55 a.m. local time.

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 340 kilometers north of the capital, Tripoli.

According to seismic data, the epicenter was located in the central Mediterranean, a seismically active zone stretching between the Libyan and Greek coasts that frequently experiences tremors of varying intensity.
