New Diplomatic Ties Established Between Tunisia and Trinidad and Tobago

On September 27, 2025, Tunisia and Trinidad and Tobago officially established diplomatic relations with the signing of a joint communiqué in New York. The agreement was signed by Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti and Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Sean Sobers at Tunisia’s Permanent Mission to the UN, on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.

The communiqué, concluded under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, marks the beginning of formal ties between the two countries. It reflects their shared commitment to fostering friendly and peaceful relations based on the principles of the UN Charter.
